As most of the toddlers have a keen interest in emergency services and vehicles we decided to make a visit to our local Fire Station Open Day!
The toddlers gained a lot of learning experiences through this trip such as gaining an insight into the different roles fire service personnel undertake. A fireman spoke to the children about rescuing animals as well as rescuing people and showed the children all the equipment they use for rescue missions.
We also got to see the rescue boats where the children said they wanted to go in when they go swimming!:-) We had a close up look at the fire engine and talked about how the hoses attach to the back worked and how they use water to put fires out. When we got back to the nursery there was a lot of fire engine role play and drawing of fire engines!
